McLean, Virginia—Potomac Health Associates, Inc. (PHA) announced that its client, Renown Health, was awarded a three-year contract with the Department of Veterans Affairs to provide radiation oncology services to veterans served by the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System hospital in the Nevada area. Renown retained PHA to assist in the preparation of their proposal and help them negotiate with VA contracting officials. This was the second time Renown called upon PHA to help the system submit a proposal to provide radiation therapy services to the VA. Requirements called for the contractor to provide some of the most sophisticated, complex, state-of-the-art services available in radiation oncology, including:
- Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)
- Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
- Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT)
Renown Institute for Cancer is Nevada’s only program offering Comprehensive Cancer Program, Breast Cancer (NAPBC) and Radiation Oncology (ACR-RO) accreditations. The Institute provides some the most advanced cancer treatments available, such as physician-guided da Vinci Robotic Surgery and TomoTherapy. Renown Institute for Cancer received continued accreditation by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Only 25 percent of cancer programs attain this distinction, which recognizes the quality of comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care. Renown is the only accredited Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer program in northern Nevada, and one of only three statewide. Radiation Therapy at Renown Institute for Cancer is the only program in the region to receive national accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR) for radiation oncology.
